ダウンタウン

お笑いのダウンタウンが好きな私ですが、downtown も好きで、よく行きます。downtown を「下町」と思っている方が割といますが、downtown を英英辞典で引くと

in or near the center of a town or city, especially the business or shopping areas

と書いてあります。つまり「繁華街・町の中心部」のことです。間違って覚えてている人が多く、要注意です。
